Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

This is, by far, the best of the series! Well, so far, at least. Like so many books made into movies, there were a lot of expectations from this. Especially since this was the beginning of a lot of dramatic changes in Harry's life. When I read this book, I was fairly shocked at how intense it was. I cried so many times! And the movie was no different. It's been a couple of years since I read the book, so there were a lot of things I couldn't remember. I'm sure they left out certain details and scenes, but I think what's left are the most important parts of the book.


The first task, where Harry was faced with a fearsome dragon, had me cringing in my seat. I can't imagine how the children in the theater were reacting. But that was just the first task. The other two were even scarier.





In between the scary tasks that Harry had to face, I love the development of the three main characters, and how they were having to face what every teenager goes through, hormones. I love that scene where Harry said, "why do they have to travel in packs? How am I supposed to get her alone?" And Ron's reply was, "Harry, you've faced a dragon, but you can't talk to a girl?" Or something to that effect. And is it me, or is Cedric Diggory the hottest thing around?? Cho and Hermione looked so beautiful at the ball. I was so jealous.





But then, we get to the most serious and most intense part of the movie. Facing Voldemort. Just like the book, I cried when Cedric was killed, cried when Harry's parents' spirits came back to help him, cried when Harry brought back Cedric's body back to Hogwarts. I cried plenty. This scene was incredibly well done, and I tip my hat off to the new director, Mike Newell.

One thing, though, the musical score is different. It didn't have that magical tune that I've grown to love and associate with the first three Harry Potter movies. I'm sure they already thought that people would get tired of that theme after four movies, but I'm not one of them. I wish they had played it, even for a little bit.

Apart from that, the movie was awesome! If you're a big fan like I am, I suggest you go and see it immediately! And if you still haven't seen it, I'll go with you!

On a side note, we came early enough to watch the previews for upcoming movies and I feel the need to share with you folks two movies that caught my attention.

The first is Warner Bros' "Happy Feet." The teaser trailer (click here, if you want to watch it), was really cute. Sort of like a spoof of "The March of The Penguins."
